The Bokokotor Bay is one of the most beautiful bays in the world. It is composed of four smaller bays: the Tivat, Kotor, Risan-Morinj and Topla Bay. At the very entrance of the bay is Herceg Novi, an administrative, cultural and economic center of the district which covers an area of 235 km2.
The district itself has 50 000 inhabitants, whilst the urban community of Herceg Novi is about 1 km lengthwise and with a population of around 10 thousand. The climate has all the characteristics of the Mediterranean micro climate, with its mild winters and long warm summers. The average temperature
during the year is 17°C, and 2386 hours of sunshine per year, or 6.8 during the day. During the winter the north-eastern winds is most frequent, in the spring and autumn the south wind and in summer the landward breeze. On the western part of the town is the Topla’s Dubrava which has a magnificent
view of the entrance of the Bokokotor Bay.
